New Google Passage Ranking Coming 2021

I normally save blog posts for my own writing, but thought this was pretty important. This is a future change in the way Google ranks pages. Now the article is pretty in depth, but basically Google is making a change that will affect about 7% of all websites.

Google is getting very good at finding great sub content within larger pages of content. And Google is going to reward it even more now. An example they give in this article is if you have a great piece on the Iphone 12, which talks about all the different versions. You’re subcontent on the iPhone 12 Max could rank higher than others that have an full article on just the iPhone Max. Does that make sense?

Where I see it helping is with “Guides”. I have many clients that have created in depth guides on a variety of subjects under one topic. With this change they have a better change of ranking well for those specific sub topics within it. I am personally really excited to see what happens here!
